If bridge of nose is not smooth but bulged, tip of nose is sharply dropping; we can call it as hooked nose. Hooked nose is because growth of nose is too developed and nose is high, or bone or cartilage is overly developed, the bridge of nose is bulged, or it can due to injure on nose since when one is young.
Hooked nose is long and its bridge of nose is bulged compared with one’s face, and as lateral view, the nose is not straight, its bridge of nose looks wide like bulging oval.
Like crooked teeth, hooked nose tends to make one looks older than actual age.
People can get sharp nose by removing bulged bridge of nose, reposition cartilage and correction of tip properly.
When remove hooked and bulged part, Dr should not lower height of nose, but should lift nose according to its shape, then patient can get natural and beautiful nose.
*surgical method
The point of humpectomy is to remove bulged bone and boundary between bone and cartilage, and lift relatively dropping tip of nose and correct general facial bone contour.
*small hooked nose
If degree of hooked is not serious, Dr Inserts in small furrow thin implant such as silicon or Gore-tax according to shape of nose.
*big hooked nose
After cutting or removing hooked part, there is certain hole in middle of nose, and it makes bridge of nose looks wider than before the surgery as frontal view.
If degree of becoming wider is small, Dr can finish by silicon according to shape, but if the degree is big, Dr should use osteotomy to supple wider bridge of nose.
*recovery and cautions
1. Patient can go out immediately after surgery, but it needs special care until removing stitches and taking off tape for a week.
2. after surgery, patient need to fix and pressure by paper band-aid or thin plastic splint, as for normal rhinoplasty, it need to do 4-5 days, and as for osteotomy it needs to do 6-7 days.
Also, sometimes patient should put sponge cotton in nostrils to not press broken bone for 2-3 days.
3. After surgery, patient may have swelling or pain, and for a periods, there will little bleeding through incision part, but most of them will stop after a day.
4. Make up is able to do after removing tape. For 2 weeks, patient should not blow one’s nose strongly, and press face. For a month, patient should take care not to bumped one’s nose, and lift one’s head during sleep.
