Re-surgery for double eyelid, which type am I?
Eye is a window of mind.
Many people decide hardly to do eye plastic surgery, and spend much time and money for surgery. However, when they get dissatisfied result, they will distress.
The most common plastic surgery is eye plastic surgery. If one has unsuccessful surgery, one will decide to do re-surgery.
There are several reasons for re-surgery for eye plastic surgery.
*double eyelid is solved.
*double eyelid is too high or low.
*both double eyelids are asymmetry.
*swelling is still remained.
*double eyelid is short or long
*double or triple lines
*feel discomforts in daily life
*visible scar
*sagging skin
*double eyelid is solved.
When double eyelid is solved, one can do re-surgery according to its reason.
If one was a thick skin and had lots of fats, one’s double eyelid is easily solved by non-incision surgery. So one can do re-surgery by partial-incision or eyelid-incision surgery and remove excessive fats.
If one has weak levator muscle, but did by normal method for double eyelid surgery rather than eye line correction, one’s double eyelid is easily solved, and for this case, eye line correction is necessary.
*double eyelid is too high or low.
High double eyelid is because incised eyelid on high position, or stitched skin or levator muscle higher than incision line. When incision line is too high, Dr can cut lower skin of incision line and make thin double eyelid. Also, if double eyelid is higher than incision line, divide skin fold and levator muscle separately, and make new fold in lower position.
If one’s skin of eyelid was born as thick, but make double eyelid same as thin skin, double eyelid can become thin as inline double eyelid as time goes by. So people who has thick eyelid, should make thick double eyelid, and then, even the time goes by, natural double eyelid is formed.
As for low double eyelid, one can remove upper skin, or stitch up levator muscle and skin together which is above of double eyelid.
When both double eyelids are asymmetry, Dr can adjust one double eyelid’s height as same as the other’s.
So when patient does not like the height of double eyelid, one can adjust it by above surgical method for re-surgery for eye plastic surgery.
*swelling is still remained
6 months after double eyelid surgery, the swelling goes down almost completely, and shape becomes natural, but some people’s eyes are still puffy and swelled after a year.
People whose fats or muscle under double eyelid is not removed well, and always look puffy and bulged. For this case, people can do re-surgery to removed bulged and puffy fats and muscle to get natural and thin double eyelid.
*double eyelid is short or long.
Although there is difference according to individual, it is natural when length of double eyelid is longer than eye.
To make such length, Dr should finish the last needle shorter than eye during stitches of double eyelid, and then skin is sagged naturally, and double eyelid is longer.
Short double eyelid depends on the last stitch’s position.
Therefore, when one’s double eyelid is short, one can suture skin and muscle together.
For this case, it is relatively simple re-surgery for eye plastic surgery, because it needs to connect skin and muscle only, rather than incision. However, when last stitch is thick and has lots of muscle, Dr should remove muscle and fats first, and then connect skin and levator muscle.
When shorten long double eyelid, Dr should incise skin on eyelid, and divide muscle and skin. Therefore, shorten double eyelid is simpler than lengthen double eyelid.
*double or triple line
Forming double eyelid is due to levator muscle and skin on eyelid is sutured up.
Proper fats between levator muscle and eyelid prevent overly suture, but if Dr removed too much fats, muscle and eyelid would suture in many parts and form layers of eyelid.
So it can correct by removing muscle and fill proper fats.
To fill fats is dragging fats which is in deep eye part and fill it, or gathering fats from armpit or etc.
However, fats tend to be absorbed, so it may fill again if it is needed.
*feel discomforts in daily life.
Most of it is because swelling after surgery.
Eye gets much swelled; much tight when remove much fats and muscle.
However, muscle which removed in double eyelid surgery, does not affect factor which open and close eye, so it does not need re-surgery, patient just wait for a period patiently.
However, when the swelling goes down, patient should put ointment before sleep, or protect eye by eye patch, can make eye more comfortable.
Also, if Dr stitches double eyelid overly high, or stitch fat diaphragm, rather than levator muscle, Dr should incise eyelid, solve double eyelid and stitch again.
When cut too much skin on eyelid, or remove too much folds on upper eyelid can due to this side effects.
However, when time goes by, there is remain on skin, so patient can wait for a time rather than consider re-surgery rashly.
*visible scar
Perhaps, the problem is in patient’s body constitution. Sometime, patients have Keloid constitution. Keloid constitution is when wound is healed; scar is wider than incision line and become uneven. For this case, any Dr does surgery, scar must form.
When levotor muscle sutured with wrong connection, or incision skin is not fixed, it can be uneven. The time for taking out stitches is also important as technique of suture, if it takes out too early, skin fills a gap, but if it is too lately, scar is left and visible. Skin on eyelid is good place to take metabolism, so it does not take inflammation, but if patient smokes, drinks alcohol, or exposed by unclean, it can take inflammation. Any reason among this, if patient is not Keloid body constitution, one can remove scar by re-surgery.
Dr cuts scar areas, sutures delicately, and patient does treatment until it is completely healed, and then, patient can remove visible scar.
*sagging skin
When double eyelid maintain well, patient can get better effects when cut sagging skin only. However, when double eyelid is sagged together, patient can get beautiful double eyelid by upper blepharoplasty.
As for double eyelid surgery, half of patients do re-surgery, and there are few principles for re-surgery. The basic principle for re-surgery is precise communication with experienced special surgeon, and acknowledge of anatomy. And it is good to know importance of surgical period, neutrality of discouraged and fantasy.
